Charlotte Metcalf, M.A., LPC, CSC

As an adult student in the counseling program at SFASU, I realized there were many times in my life that I would’ve greatly benefitted from counseling; the stigma of “seeing a therapist” held me back and I dealt with pain and stress by using unhealthy coping skills.

Now, as a Licensed Professional Counselor, my goal is for all clients to feel comfortable sharing the reasons they’re seeking counseling. I aim to create a non-judgmental environment where we can work together to successfully overcome obstacles.

Adolescents and young adults have a special place in my heart, but I’ve also found that I can relate to young mothers and couples. I believe that the feeling of isolation, or failure, is a concept we make worse on ourselves, simply because it is a new experience and have nothing to compare with the challenge.

I have a passion for teaching young adults how to accept themselves and grow their confidence while beginning life’s journey.

Although I feel strongly that church and faith are important in my life, I accept that not everyone has the same point of view. I hope that as a mother and school counselor, I influence young people in my life to love and accept others who are different from them.

My background as a high school teacher and counselor has prepared me for this second career that I greatly enjoy. I’m not only a counselor, but a mother, wife, daughter and sister. In my spare time, I love being with my family, working outdoors, raising horses and cattle, and cooking.
