TRAUMA

Heal from your past experiences.

Trauma can be related to a specific event in your life that was scary, or it can be caused by repeated experiences or stressful situations.

It affects people differently, but occurs when your negative experiences have a lasting effect on you.

Signs of trauma show themselves in many ways.

Avoiding certain activities, places, or people because it brings back memories of a negative experience, or having flashbacks or nightmares about the event, could be signs of trauma.

Other signs can include frequently having feelings of being on edge or overly vigilant, frequent feelings of irritability or anger, isolating yourself from others, feeling disconnect or detached, difficulty sleeping or sleeping excessively, and the inability to concentrate or focus.

We can help you move from victim to survivor.

We like to use the analogy of trauma being like cancer. If you were diagnosed with cancer and were told you had to go through chemotherapy. The chemo is going to make you feel worse than you do today. However, in the end, it will kill the cancer that is growing in your body.

We have counselors who are experienced in helping clients resolve trauma and overcome the symptoms that cause distress.

Counseling may bring up a lot of bad memories and negative feelings that are living under the surface and preventing you from having the fulfilling life you deserve. However, in the end, it will assist you in resolving the trauma you have experienced so that it does not continue to have a negative impact on your life.

This is a very scary, but necessary, step in moving forward to being a survivor.

It is not unusual for trauma victims to carry feelings of guilt and assume some of the responsibility for what they have experienced. We will help you reverse that negative thinking and be more compassionate with yourself.

By creating a safe place for you, in a trusting relationship, we’ll support you as you walk the path to healing.

You can find joy and peace as you are freed from your past experiences.

We have training in several methods that are specifically used to recover from trauma.

Our counseling techniques include Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, EMDR, and Narrative Therapy.

Rid yourself of your past and create the future you deserve!
