Depression can creep up on you…

…and quietly take hold of your life before you recognize the signs and symptoms.

You may have an image in your head of a depressed person that looks sad all the time and doesn’t function well.

In severe cases, that may be true. However, depression doesn’t look like that for everyone.

Some people who experience depression go through the motions of life and still get things done.

So, how do I know if I am depressed?

Do you have feelings of sadness almost every day?

Do you have no interest in doing things you used to enjoy?

Have you lost weight without trying or gained a significant amount of weight?

Are you having problems sleeping or sleeping a lot more than normal?

Are you experiencing a change in your physical activity level? Sluggish or more agitated than normal?

Do you not have any energy or feel tired all the time?

Do you feel like you are worthless or experience a lot of guilt?

Are you having problems focusing, concentrating, or making decisions?

Are you having thoughts of wanting to hurt yourself?

Are you not functioning in the same way in your social life, at work, or other areas of your life?

There’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
